Type Locality and Naming
Along the Karikansay ravine, Southwest Gissar. Collective of authors, 1959 (382, table 16). Stratotype along the Karikansay ravine. Upper formation in Tarkapantigay Gr. Included in the Karikansay horizon (56; 114; 166; 189; 189; 190; 452; 458)
Synonym: Karikansay Suite, Карикансайская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Clays (argillites) gray with interlayers of sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), shell limestones. In the northern sections, at the bottom, interlayers of red-colored sandstones and gravelites. Thickness 60-130m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies conformably on the Tyubegatan Fm
Upper contact
It is overlain conformably by the Tagarin Fm.

Contains ammonites - Karamaites gaurdakense (Lupp.), Mediasiceras mediasiaticum (Lupp.); marine bivalve mollusks - Lopha dichotoma Bayle, Inoceramus pictus Mant., gastropods - Bathraspira angusta Arust., foraminifera - Conorbinopsis aktagi (N. Byk.), Gavelinella cenomanica (Brotz.), Hedbergella caspia (Vass.), Rotaliatina asiatica N. Byk.
